CARIBBEAN CHRISTMAS RECIPE
Guyanese Pepperpot
Hello Team Wukkout!
We are back with another Caribbean recipe from Metemgee Blog Founder, Althea Brown.
With Christmas less than two weeks away, we thought it was time for a Guyanese Pepperpot recipe.
Below you will find Althea’s recipe for Guyanese Pepperpot, a rich meat stew. While this meal is most traditionally known to be eaten for breakfast on Christmas morning, once you’ve got this recipe down you’ll be craving it on any regular day.
From Metemgee: Pepperpot is a rich meat stew that gets its signature dark color from cassareep, a thick "caramel" or reduction sauce made from cassava extract. It is traditionally eaten with bread (preferably homemade plait bread) on Christmas morning.
