December 2022 Recipe: Guyanese Style Sorrel

We are back with another Caribbean recipe from Metemgee Blog Founder, Althea Brown.
Now this may not quite fall under the “wholesome” category as it does contain sugar but we figured with Christmas less than two weeks away, we’d share a recipe for something that is traditionally made in Caribbean households at this time of year - Sorrel. Now, every island does their sorrel a little differently but for today, we are sharing a Guyanese style recipe.
From Metemgee: Guyanese Style Sorrel Drink is made with dried hibiscus flower and warm spices. It is very popular around Christmas time, but can be enjoyed year round. In the Caribbean we call it Sorrel Blossoms but the rest of the world knows it as Hibiscus flowers or flor de Jamaica.
