Starting our Wukkout! Instructor Spotlight series is none other than Wukkout! Founder Krista Martins. Take a minute to get to know her and browse the photos to see her throughout the years.
Let’s start with the basics. How long have you been a Wukkout! instructor: I founded Wukkout! 10 years ago (so all it’s life).
Where are you originally from and what Island do you represent: I was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (a suburb of Toronto) and repping Guyana!
Favorite Wukkout! routine: There are over 200 routines - this is an impossible question! 3 of my faves are Jolene, Cheers to Life, and The Struggle.
Favorite West Indian Dish: Bake and Saltfish.
Patrice or Nadia: I LOVE Patrice's voice, but I think I've been feeling what Nadia has been putting out more lately.
Machel or Kes: Don't do this to me.
Lyrikal or Bunji: Lyroooooo! (By a 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘮 margin).
Power Soca or Groovy: I am, without question, a groovy gyal.
Favorite Soca song of ALL time: This is easy. Dr. Cassandra by Gabby. It gets me every single time.
Favorite Rum: As if there's another answer. El Dorado (12 years) of course!
Favorite Wukkout! Memory: Brooklyn Museum for First Saturdays!
Here are some fun facts to end us off:
Krista’s favorite show is General Hospital (Yes the soap opera).
Up until age 10, she spoke fluent Tagalog.
She is a die-hard musical theatre nerd and has seen the musical Les Miserables more times than she can count!
