Introducing: Makayla Peterson!

Makayla Peterson, dancer, choreographer and dance scholar is a 2020 graduate who received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, minoring in Digital Media Technologies from Temple University. From Brooklyn, NY, she began her dance training at age 4 in a plethora of styles. Growing up, her Trinidadian culture was ingrained in her in all forms - food, drink, language and way of life. As a way to continue spreading her culture through music and dance, Makayla joined Wukkout! Currently, Makayla interns for Philadelphia-based Black Dance Magazine, performs with Enya Kalia Creations and recently started her own company, Monét Movement Productions.

I am a professional dancer, choreographer and dance scholar.⁣

5️⃣What made you decide to become a Wukkout! Instructor?
I wanted to continue sharing the Caribbean culture through music and dance.⁣

6️⃣How have you been spending your time during quarantine?
Branding, building skills, continuing to be creative through hosting and taking virtual classes.⁣

My favorite animal is an elephant.
My sister and I could pass as twins.
My Caribbean ancestry also leads to Grenada, Barbados and St. Vincent.
